John Brown was born May 9, 1800, in Connecticut. He was the middle child of eight. Then in 1805, the family moved to Ohio, where His dad opened a tannery. When John turned 16, He left his family and went to Massachusetts, where he went to a preparatory program. In 1820, he married Dianthe Lusk. Their first kid was named John Jr, and was born 13 months after then married. In 1825, Him and his family moved to New Richmond in Pennsylvania, where he made his own tannery. In 1837, John Brown swore his life to ending slavery. In Springfield, he found a community where white leadership was involved and invested in the anti-slavery movement. Then in 1854 there had been 8 killings in Kansas Territory. Brown murdered five people in a single night, and the massacre was the match in the powder keg that precipitated the bloodiest period in Kansas history, or should I say in Bleading Kansas! a three-month period of retaliatory raids and battles in which a whole 29 people died. Two years later it is suspected they took five pro-slavery settlers from their cabins on Pottawatomie Creek and "hacked them to death with broadswords". Brown claimed he did not participate in the killings, he did say he approved of them. In 1859, john led 18 people to attack the Harpers Ferry Armory. The armory was a large group of buildings that contained muskets and rifles, which Brown wanted to take and use to arm the local slaves. His is strategy was to "deplete Virginia of its slaves, causing the institution to collapse in one county after another, until the movement spread into the South, essentially wreaking havoc on the economic viability of the pro-slavery states." Then him and his men hid in an engine house but were soon overwhelmed by there pursuers, Ten were killed, Five escaped, and seven were captured. John brown was hanged for his crimes december 2, 1859.
